Restarting Soccer Summer 2020

Our soccer fields have been quiet and empty for a few months now. Since mid-March we have looked forward to being back out there on the fields with our teammates and friends and returning to some sense of normal.

As our county moves into the green phase, know that we have been diligently working to solidify our plan for safely restarting soccer at Patriot FC.  On June 29, 2020, we will resume soccer activities following EPYSA and CDC protocols and guidelines.  The information here may not answer all the questions you have, but it covers the key elements of our ‘Return-to-play’ plan for Stage I. We will add other aspects of our plan as we progress through the four stages of the EPYSA restart process.

Our priorities are:

  • first and foremost, the health and safety of players, training staff, volunteers, and our neighbors in the community

  • providing an excellent and safe soccer development environment for every player

  • being good stewards of our families’ financial investment and the resources of our community

We all must do our part to ensure we can safely restart and continue to play soccer at Patriot FC this summer and into fall.

Return-to-play Guidelines - Stage I

In conjunction with EPYSA guidelines on ‘Return-to-play Protocols’ and the ‘Return-to-play Stages’, Patriot FC families, players, and coaches are required to follow these guidelines as we resume soccer activities in Stage I.

Communicable Diseases Waiver

All players must have a signed waiver in place before they are allowed to participate in any restart activities.

Pre-practice

  • Health check by parent on player to ensure regular temperature and no symptoms of sickness.

  • No player or coach can attend a session if they have an elevated temperature or are feeling unwell.

  • Each player must have their own equipment, including ball, cleats, shin guards, practice jersey, etc.

  • No water, water bottles, drinks or food of any kind can be shared between players. Please label all items.

  • Players should bring hand sanitizer, tissues, and any other personal health items they may require.

Arrival

  • Families should avoid car pooling with other Club members who are not in the same household.

  • Players should be dropped off at designated spots for their practice at the facility. (See facility map for exact location)

  • No player should arrive earlier than 10 minutes before their practice start time.

  • Players must wear a mask when exiting their vehicle.

  • Practice times will be staggered to minimize overlap during drop off and pick up.

  • Players will have a designated area for their bag and equipment. Every area will be 6ft apart.

During Practice

  • Practices will be structured to ensure players remain physically distant throughout.

  • Coaches will wear masks throughout practice and when in proximity to other people.

  • No contact between players during the training session, including: high-fives, handshakes, or other celebrations.

  • Coaches will move all equipment as necessary. Players will not touch equipment.

  • Players are encouraged to wear masks at water breaks or when not in active practice time.

  • It is recommended that parents not attend practice, but if they remain they must watch from their vehicle.

  • Parents must maintain social distance at all times with anyone not in their household while at the practice facility.

Post Practice

  • Players must clean their personal equipment area, nothing may remain behind.

  • Players are asked to quickly gather their belongings and leave the field to provide adequate time for the next group to arrive and set up for their session.

  • Players must wear masks at the completion of practice until they are inside their vehicle.

  • Players must be picked up at designated pick-up areas. Coaches will manage pick up to ensure compliance and protocols are followed.

  • Players should wash hands once home.

  • Player’s equipment should be sanitized after practice.

  • Coaches will sanitize team equipment after each practice.

Reporting of COVID Exposure

  • Parents must notify the Board of Patriot FC within 12 hours if the player or someone in the player’s home is presumed positive or tests positive for COVID.

  • Coaches must notify the board of Patriot FC within 12 hours if the coach or someone in their home is presumed positive or tests positive for COVID.

  • Operational protocols will be in place for post-practice tracing.

  • Patriot FC will notify participants who came in contact with the individual of potential exposure following CDC guidelines and HIPAA regulations on confidentiality.

  • Players or coaches confirmed positive for COVID must quarantine as required by CDC/PA Dept. of Health and can only return with a Doctor’s approval.
