2023-24 Travel Team Tryouts

2023-2024 Travel Program

Patriot FC offers a full travel program for selected players. The goal of the program is to create and encourage a love for the game through high level training, competitive play, and a focus on development above all else. Each player will receive professional training year round from our training staff with the focus on creating highly technical players who understand all aspects of the game and who are not limited by position.

Players must attend at least one tryout for their birth year but are strongly encouraged to attend both birth year tryouts. In addition to birth year tryouts, players have the option of trying out one birth year older. Players will receive a tryout shirt.

See Tryout Overview & Guidelines for more details including the 2023-24 Tryout Schedule. Specific times and locations will be announced soon.

** All interested travel players including current Patriot FC Travel players must register for the 2023-24 Travel Tryout. **

USYS PATHWAY AFFILIATION

Patriot FC is proud to follow the USYS pathway. USYS is the largest member of the US Soccer Federation with over 3 million youth soccer players and offers a strong, consistent, and developmentally-appropriate structure for its players.

Our travel teams (U7 - U19) compete locally in an EDP league from their Futures Program up through their USYS Conferences

This league affiliation provides benefits for every travel player in the club:

  • Flexible game-day rosters allow the club to make more offers to players in each age group.
  • Team-directed scheduling and minimized travel distances increase the number of games each player plays in, providing them more chances to practice their skills in game situations.

  • For our youngest players (U7 - U9) it provides them the opportunity to play in games which focus on developing a love for soccer, learning in a low-pressure environment, and building fundamentals.

  • For players aged (U9-U10) building on the foundation from the first two years, teams are organized into brackets based on development level. Geography is a consideration to limit the travel distance for games.

  • For players aged (U11-U12) they will be placed in a division with developmentally-appropriate competition. The goal is for them to be in a competitive game every time they step onto the field. The league aims to have an overall maximum goal differential of 2.

  • For players aged (U13-U19) success at the younger ages sets up teams to compete in the USYS National League Conferences, which offer opportunities for players to compete at the highest levels and in regional and national events.

USYS PATHWAYS EDP SOCCER AFFILIATION

WHAT COMES WITH YOUR CLUB REGISTRATION?

Aligned to the Club’s vision: “To create the most compelling soccer club for players, coaches, and parents in Eastern Pennsylvania”. Patriot FC strives to provide the best value in the area for your time and financial commitment.

Families can expect the cost of playing soccer to rise as your competitive soccer player gets older. There are several reasons for this: leagues, referees, and tournaments all cost more, and teams tend to do more events per year.

A family can expect their all-in costs to be between $1,200 and $2000 for the 2022-23 seasonal year. Team managers can answer specific questions about your team's budget for the year.

TRAINING & COACHING

  • Full-time Director of Coaching, with an “A” License, who has over a decade of experience leading a club, mentoring a training staff, and 20+ years teaching youth soccer players.

  • Every training session is organized and executed by a professional, highly-credentialed member of our training staff.

  • A year-round, developmentally appropriate training program, players and teams will train twice weekly from August to June. 56 sessions for the full-year program. Winter training and facility rental included.

  • Every player has access to train with other teams throughout the season when mutually-beneficial. This is especially useful for middle & high school players juggling school sports and the birth year restrictions.

  • Specialized goalkeeper training, focused on building core fundamentals of the position, once weekly from August to June.

  • It is highly recommended that every team utilize a professional, game-day coach.* For the 2022-23 season this is optional.

FIELDS & FACILITIES

  • For the 2022-23 season we are adding two facilities, Council Rock North and The George School, both with turf fields. These locations will be the primary locations for travel team training sessions.

  • The predictability of the surface and the lack of weather-related cancellations make the turf fields ideal for training sessions.

  • Less use of our grass fields will improve the overall condition of those fields for games and other soccer activities.

  • Full-time groundskeeper, no volunteer commitment to line fields or move equipment.

PLAYER PATHWAYS & LEAGUE AFFILIATION

  • Patriot FC is proud to follow the USYS pathway. USYS is the largest member of the US Soccer Federation with over 3 million youth soccer players and offers a strong, consistent, and developmentally-appropriate structure for players. Learn more why this is right for your player

  • League fees for both Fall and Spring. Every travel team (U7 - U19) will compete year-round in appropriate leagues locally or through EDP from their Futures Program up through their USYS Conferences.

  • It is not recommended that teams play in an indoor winter league, as it can be difficult to find the right level of competition. Winter is a great time to focus on a player’s technical skills, teams should consider futsal or additional technical training sessions*.

PARTNERSHIP & AFFILIATIONS

  • Team Genius provides our coaches and trainers the ability to provide personalized, in-season, developmental feedback to players.

  • This platform gives our coaches and trainers the ability to track improvements across the four main tenets of player development: technical, tactical, physical, and psychological.

  • Players can expect to receive at least two formal evaluations over the course of the season, not including tryouts.

  • Soccer Parenting is the definitive source for parent education, engagement, and sideline behavior.

  • To have a successful season we all have to do our part, access updated and relevant content to understand the parent’s role in helping to make your player’s soccer experience the best it can be.

  • Soccer.com is our club partner for team uniforms and fan wear.

  • Families gain access automatically and free of charge to their Goal Club, which offers discounts on purchases.

  • Free shipping on uniforms and other items is included.

ADMINISTRATION & TECHNOLOGY

  • At Patriot FC, we try to manage as much of the administration of the team as possible to allow the coaches to coach, and free up the parents to enjoy watching their kids play.

  • Player cards, state registration fees, and insurance for teams and players. Basically everything that is needed behind the curtain to get your player on the field for the season.

  • Full-time Club registrar to help with registration questions, player transfers, & anything related to program administration.

  • Mobile & web registration & technology platforms.

  • All other administrative & miscellaneous costs associated with the day-to-day management of the program.

WHAT ARE THE OTHER SEASONAL COSTS?

TEAM BUDGETS

Under the guidance of our Director of Coaching each team will determine their final schedule for the season. The schedule will reflect the team’s ambitions and their level of development at that time. Teams will create a budget that will cover the remainder of their costs for the season. Below is a list of expenses that are covered in the team’s budget.

  • GAME-DAY COACH: most teams at the Club choose to have the same professional coach for both their weekly training sessions and game day management. Aside from the professional coach’s experience and knowledge, there are several other benefits to having a game-day coach: ability to apply situations from the game during training sessions and vice versa, a clear consistent voice, independent view of each player, and expectations for the style of play from the team.
  • TOURNAMENTS: the number of and which tournaments the team will play in over the course of the season affects their budget. Entry fees range from as low as $500 for a local tournament to over $1500 for a College Showcase event.
  • STATE CUPS: since not all teams compete in the state cup tournament, if a team decides to play in state cups they cover those registration fees from their team budget.
  • REFEREES: fees paid to referees vary greatly between leagues, age of the team,  and level of competition and as such are covered through the team budget.

INDIVIDUAL EXPENSES

  • PERSONAL TRAVEL: expenses paid for traveling to and from games, tournaments, etc., are paid by the families individually.

  • UNIFORMS: uniforms for travel soccer are available through our partner, soccer.com. Uniforms are good for two years, our current uniform cycle covers the seasonal years of 2021-22 & 2022-2023. The required uniform package costs about $185 and includes home and away game kits and a training jersey.
